Maltsters , Matlock

A beautiful little cottage by the side of the Bentley Brook as is splashes through the old Matlock conservation area.

Sleeps: 3 (2 bedrooms) | Change over day: Saturday

Maltsters Cottage is a beautiful little cottage, in the old Matlock conservation area, set adjacent to the Bentley Brook which splashes its way down the hillside into Matlock. Originally part of the malt store for the local mill, the cottage has been renovated recently to provide absolutely superb accommodation. Every room is lovely but the farmhouse style kitchen, with its units, tiles and pine table, tops the lot !

It's a two minute level stroll into Matlock Green for your morning paper. Walks from the cottage can take you through Starkholmes' interesting conservation area, along Lumsdale's 'industrial revolution' valley or high up on Riber hillside for breathtaking views over the Peak District hills. Have an evening glass on the patio before walking through the riverside park to the Stones bistro for a fantastic meal.

Stones is worth a block booking for the whole week but here are a few alternative suggestions. Collect a super packed lunch from 'Espresso' in Darley Dale before a trip to Haddon Hall and Lathkill Dale. Stop off at Rowley's restaurant in Baslow on the way to Castleton's caverns. Call at the Devonshire Arms in Beeley for a great evening meal after visiting Chatsworth House and Bakewell.
