Reviews

Cottage is in the delightful village of Youlgrave with beautiful views and walks on your doorstep. Well equipped, kitchen is great, and cottage as a whole deceptively spacious. Enjoyed our stay. Only minor point is that we found the bed uncomfortable but it didn’t spoil our stay!

Dr D,

Our stay at Kingfisher Cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Cosy countryside cottage with modern amenities in a location perfect for being immediately out into the countryside. We really enjoyed being able to look out across the fields from the living room and master bedroom when the weather closed in!

Miss P,

Lovely holiday with flowers looking good. Had short walks but very enjoyable. Back again hopefully.

Past Customer,

Cottage lovely & in a beautiful setting. Didn’t see any kingfishers but a heron landed opposite. Marvellous walks with a drink in the pub at the end. Thank you.

Past Customer,

We had a lovely stay. Great facilities in such a beautiful location. A really relaxing visit – just what we needed! Thank you.

Past Customer,

A beautifully decorated cottage in a stunning location. Great facilities & a spacious kitchen. A great week in the sun was enjoyed by all with many evenings spent by the brook.

Past Customer,

Another wonderful holiday in our favourite cottage. Perfect location & perfect weather too. Why would anyone want to go abroad?!

Past Customer,

Had a lovely stay, cottage is home from home. A great base for walking locally & further afield. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Brilliant cottage. Everything we need. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Excellent property and good location. Only problem was that the waste bin was full as it had not been put by the road on alternate weeks for some months prior to our visit. The need to do this needs to be highlighted more to guests. We put out the recycle bin which was duly emptied but it wasn't the week for the non recyclable bin. Don't put this comment in the review.

Mr David P,

Lovely, clean, well-equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Thank you!

Past Customer,

Thank you again for the use of Kingfisher. We have had a brilliant stay. Lots of walks, food and wine. Lovely memories. Back again next year!

Always a pleasure to visit Kingfisher Cottage and meet friends made over the years we have come. Weather not bad for Oct/Nov. Lovely to see kingfisher!

Fantastic stay. Very homely cottage. Wonderful local walks, the children enjoyed spotting wildlife. Lovely days out to Castleton, Buxton, Chatsworth. Gulliver's Kingdom was a huge hit with the children! Would love to stay here again.

Location

YOULGREAVE

The beautiful village of Youlgreave stands high above Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale with the clear, sparkling rivers running through the valleys below.  The wide banks of the River Bradford are a perfect spot for a picnic.  Or walk south-east to the gritstone outcrop of Robin Hood’s Stride and on to Stanton Moor, a designated Scheduled Ancient Monument featuring more than 70 barrows and 4 stone circles, the best known of which is Nine Ladies.  Youlgreave is truly situated in an ancient landscape.  Three miles west of the village is Arbor Low, one of the largest Neolithic henges in England.

Today, Youlgreave is a bustling, popular village with a range of shops, cafes, a post office and pubs.

Nearby is Bakewell, the main tourist town of the Peak District with its Bakewell Puddings made to a secret recipe.  It’s also just a short drive to magnificent Chatsworth House or the more homely Haddon Hall. Don’t forget to visit Caudwell’s water powered flour mill with its vegetarian café and craft shop or the award-winning Chatsworth Farm Shop.
