Stunning' was our first thought when we visited Church View. This is a fabulous cottage, created out of an old stone barn, with stone flagged floor, beamed ceiling, lovely wood doors, quality decor and furnishings, beautiful drapes and super views over the surrounding countryside. But it's the cottage's absolutely fantastic bedroom and bathroom that really set it apart!
Wake up early in a morning for a wander in the surrounding fields with the sheep playing hide and seek in the mist. It's got to be breakfast on the patio sharing your toast with all the wild birds. Walks from the cottage door through beautiful scenery can fill every day of your holiday. The 'Queens Head' and 'Waterloo' village pubs are great for lunch or a scrumptious evening meal.
This is the very heart of the Peak District with its famous holiday attractions all around but how about some special local secrets - a picnic watching the gliders at Gt. Hucklow, spotting the rainbow over the waterfall in Monsal Dale, listening to the amazing echo in the Dome in Buxton or standing on the 'edge of the world' on Calver Edge. Sharing a Bakewell Pudding with the ducks on the river tops the lot!!
A superb and spacious lounge and adjoining dining kitchen with stone flagged floor, super rugs, beautiful drapes and views across the fields. The lounge has a quality leather sofa and other furniture, 'space age' flame effect electric fire, flat screen T.V., DVD, Freeview and Wi Fi. The dining kitchen has a mellow pine table and chairs, bespoke pine units, large double oven cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. A luxurious bedroom with beamed ceiling, king-size double bed, crisp linen, sofa ,T.V and views over the fields. A fantastic bathroom with corner shower, separate bath and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating and power are included (£15 p.w. charged extra Oct-Mar).There is a secluded patio with furniture and access to the surrounding fields. Ample parking is available. Pets and smoking are not permitted. The cottage is not suitable for babies and toddlers due to the open straircase. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.
Weekly bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday but short breaks are available throughout the year excluding Xmas & New Year. Bookings for Christmas and New Year are from Sunday to Sunday.

"Lovely, lovely cottage, we had a great week. Weather was good. My daughter and partner and two children were only round the corner in another cottage. Even the grand children loved the traffic free bike tracks. The cottage has everything you could possibly want. We both slept so well. And we both adore Bakewell. We hope to come back next year with the new addition - our sixth grand child. Thank you so much."

"Fantastic week. The cottage so comfortable, the best we have been to, loved sitting on the patio with our glass of wine after a day walking just watching the sheep and chickens and the sound of the church bells some days. Loved it! we will be back."

We chose the cottage based on the reviews of the bedroom and bathroom and we weren't disappointed. It is also well placed for visiting the heart of the Peak District. Have had a great time exploring the area by foot, cycle and car and we were blessed with warm sunshine everyday. Our thanks to Joy and John for a very warm welcome."

"We have had a lovely week with lots of walking and very good weather. The cottage is in a perfect setting and is well equipped. And its nice to have a large bedroom and bathroom. It was great to wake up in the morning, look out of the window and see the sheep. Thank you Joy and John for the welcome pack, the eggs were so different from the shop ones, it's a pity we don't live nearer. Thank you."
