Utterly wonderful are about the only words I can use to describe Croft Cottage in its brilliant location on the edge of attractive Taddington village. This superbly furnished and decorated cottage, formed from an old stone barn, combines every luxury with lots of original features like exposed stone walls, stripped wood doors, beamed ceilings, an old stone fireplace and glowing log burning stove.
Set amidst rolling fields, the cottage is just a two minute stroll out of Taddington, which is a 'real' village with the 'Queens Head' and 'Waterloo' pubs, and footpaths radiating in all directions. Head off across the tops of the 'Peak' along the Limestone Way or down into Millers Dale and Monsal Dale with the river Wye splashing over the waterfalls in the valley.
When your feet are tired you can always visit Bakewell or Buxton, Chatsworth House and Carsington reservoir, Edensor and Eyam villages and Haddon and Hardwick Halls, which are just a short drive away. But save a bit of time to visit Treeline's jewellery in Bakewell, Hartington's fantastic cheese shop, Rowsley's incredible craft workshops and all the designer label factory outlets around Alfreton.
A beautiful lounge with lovely furniture and drapes, stripped wood doors, old stone fireplace, glowing log burning stove, Flat screen T.V., DVD, Freeview and WiFi. A superb, fitted dining kitchen with attractive tiles, oiled wood surfaces, cooker, microwave, fridge, automatic washer, dishwasher and stereo. A fantastic double bedroom with beamed ceiling, pine furniture, attractive lighting and T.V. A luxurious bathroom with terrazzo tiling, corner shower, large bath and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of logs are included (£15 p.w. charged extra Oct-Mar). Additional logs can be purchased from the owner, £15 per week. There is a large secluded patio with furniture and access to the surrounding fields. Ample parking is available. "After several days of gales and rain it snowed making our stay magical ! What a fabulous cosy cottage hideaway ! Welcoming touches such has fresh eggs, milk and little pots of flowers. A luxurious bubble bath in a big bathroom with a "loo with a view" Always constant hot water on tap after a long walk. The most snug bed and linen. Cottage always warm with logburner easily made with logs from just outside. How refreshing to use a teapot that does not dribble, provided with a tea cosy to. We recommend walk over A6, steep descent down to Millers Dale and Anglers Rest where a warm welcome and hearty food awaits. We look forward to returning and continuing our exploration and adventures in this lovely area. Thank you."
