Cosy Corner , Baslow

A secret little hideaway in a peaceful corner of the lovely Peak District village of Baslow.

Sleeps: 2 (1 bedroom) | Change over day: Friday

Cosy Corner Cottage is a secret little hideaway, classily decorated and furnished with a cosy lounge, 'state of the art' kitchen and bathroom and a really lovely bedroom. It's the attention to detail that sets the cottage apart with simple but brilliant use of colour, lovely drapes, crisp linen and fluffy towels making for an unforgettable stay.

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the lovely village of Baslow, on the very edge of the wonderful Chatsworth Estate, it also has a really great location. There are lots and lots of things to explore in the village from the craft centre and gift stores to the three pubs, four restaurants and the Cavendish Hotel. Our favourite is an evening walk by the river before a super meal in Rowley's bistro.

Chatsworth with its magnificent house and gardens, peaceful Haddon Hall and famous Bakewell with its 'puddings' are all just a few minutes' drive away. Baslow and Curbar Edges which overlook the village make for great walks and breathtaking views. All the Peak District's sparkling rivers, picturesque villages, dramatic dales and endless range of other attractions are just as close by.

Cottage facilities:

A attractive lounge with comfortable sofa and arm chair, T.V., DVD, Freeview and coal effect gas fire. An adjoining dining area with table and chairs. A quality fitted kitchen with hard wood surfaces, polished marble floor, hob, oven, microwave and fridge. An outside store with washing machine, laundry maid and space for bikes. A bedroom with luxurious double bed, crisp linen and views towards Chatsworth. A small dressing area. An ultra - modern bathroom with under floor heating, bath/shower over, fluffy towels and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, fuel and power are included. There is a small sitting out area with table and chairs. The cottage is not suitable for toddlers because of the open staircase. Parking is very close by on the quiet lanes at the end of the path up to the cottage. There is a store for bikes. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Visitor's Comments

"What a wonderful cottage. It truly lives up to it's name! Very comfortable and furnished to a high standard. It was the Easter weekend and we were delighted to find that Liz had left chocolate treats in the fridge and dotted around the cottage. We explored Chatsworth House (pretty much on your doorstep), climbed the local hills (Baslow and Curbar Edges are well worth your time), and enjoyed true Derbyshire hospitality in the local pubs and restaurants. Can't wait to come back and experience the cottage in winter!"

"Just got back from a 5 day stay at the Cosy Corner Cottage and it is exactly that...A beautiful cottage with everything you need for your stay plus a few extras from Liz the owner. In a great location for seeing the delights of Derbyshire, such as Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Matlock etc and close to The Monsal Trail for walkers and cyclists. Had a great time in this lovely county and in this lovely cottage...Will definitely return. Communication from the owner before and after was second to none...thanks again."

"Stayed from Friday to Monday for a great weekend. Property was spotless and in great condition. Had everything we needed and more. Location was great. Nice quite spot with great little shop round corner with basics open 8 to 8. Walking distance to several great pubs for a drink or food. Best of all walking distance to Chatsworth. Parking nice and easy just round the corner. Owner good on communication and even had cottage ready early on the Friday. Would definitely stay again."

"We stayed here for an after Xmas break. It was our second visit and it certainly won’t be our last. Thanks Liz for making the cottage festive and our Xmas tipple which you left for us on our arrival,"

"The cottage is perfect for two people. It helped that there was a bike store as we had brought our bikes with us. Baslow is also a very nice village: easy walking to Chatsworth House and plenty for well rated eating places. The cottage had all the necessary items to make it a home from home. Definitely would recommend"

"Cosy Cottage is a lovely place for 2 people. It was scrupulously clean, everything was there that we needed. We prefer to cook for ourselves in the evening, after a long day out walking, rather than to go out. We found the kitchen very well equipped, to enable us to do so, with all the utensils that we might need, together with cling film, foil, kitchen roll, dish cloths and washing up liquid - all the things that you take for granted when at home. Together with teabags, coffee, milk etc. The cottage is very warm and snug, and super quiet. Exactly what we needed as we were both recovering from a lingering chesty virus, and this was a great way to recuperate. We walked from it each day in a different direction, also taking the bus to Wyedale at the start of the Monsal Trail and walking home, another day took the bus into Matlock and walked back along the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail. Also strolls into Chatsworth Park of an evening. Thank you so much to Liz for her care and attention."

"Cosy Corner is a beautiful little cottage in an ideal location. I stayed for a short week and will certainly hope to come back. Made a great base to explore the Peak District and wasn't far from anything. Best of all was the walk to Chatsworth; you're on the estate within 10-15 minutes! Communication with Liz was great from start to finish. Highly recommended."
