Roaches Cottage is a superb little cottage in an absolutely incredible location under the dramatic 'Roaches' stone edge with stunning views in all directions. The uniqueness of the setting is only matched by the cottage's lovely interior where quality decoration and furnishings complement lots of traditional features like the beamed ceiling, exposed stone walls, stone flagged floor, Belfast sink and glowing log burning stove.
As you sit on the cottage patio and marvel at the views down the valley it's hard to imagine that Leek with its splendid Victorian buildings, cobbled streets and mill shops is only a few miles away. Just a little further will take you to super towns and villages like Bakewell, Buxton and Hartington. You are also ideally placed to visit the world famous Wedgewood, Spode and Royal Doulton potteries.
For even more exiting days out how about Tittesworth's lake and nature trails, a barge trip along the Caldon Canal, a steam train ride from Cheddleton or visits to all the nearby National Trust houses and halls. If I then mention the scrumptious meals in the nearby Rock Inn or Lazy Trout pubs you will appreciate that I am describing a pretty fantastic holiday cottage and location.
A lovely open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area with beamed ceiling, stone flagged floor and glowing log burning stove. The lounge has comfortable furniture gathered around the stove together with a flat screen T.V., DVD and Freeview. The dining area has a pine table, chairs and dresser. The kitchen has quality fitted units, Belfast sink, cooker, microwave, fridge and automatic washer. An attractive double bedroom with stripped wood floor, traditional cast iron bed and super patchwork quilt. A similar single bedroom with pine furniture. A shower room with shower and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of logs for the stove are included. A cot and high chair can be requested. There is a lovely cottage garden, looking out across the valley, with furniture. Ample parking is available together with storage for bikes. A small pet is allowed by arrangement. "Fabulous cottage in a breathtaking location; the Roaches are literally on the doorstep. We had a week of peace and quiet, stunning scenery and a very welcoming cottage all rolled into one. Although the cottage could be classed as small, it contained everything needed for a getaway in the countryside. Very cosy and comfortable. My furry pal loved all of the walks and slept like a log every evening. Definitely recommended. Would love to return in the non too distant future."

"My partner and I stayed at Roaches Cottage, Upper Hulme, for 4 nights over the scorching May Bank Holiday. We would just like to say how much we enjoyed our break. The cottage was lovely and what a superb location. It was so warm we had breakfast in the garden every day. A first for us in the UK in 40 years! The owners were really friendly and helpful. We will certainly visit again. Many thanks."
