"Third visit - lovely time spent by one and all in this ideal location, and very comfortable accommodation. A get together with relatives that live locally is always a pleasure. Our recommendations are Monsal Trail, Bolsover Castle. Food - Knockerdown, the Boat Comford, Cafe in the Park at Matlock. Further afield Castleton The Three Roots Cafe. The Bulls Head pub. As for the Miners Arms it is what it is - convenient - good beer and now have a wine list!! Food not bad but can't compete with the others mentioned."

"An excellent cottage - suited all our needs and a wonderful garden. Weather too hot the first week and then cold and wet the second week. We have mainly spent our time exploring the country side locally with some good walks. Can recommend the Bear for Sunday carvery if you are VERY hungry. A great holiday. Thank you."

"Beautiful. Amazing walks up hill and down dale. Dovedale up Thorpe Cloud and along the river to Milldale. Stunning views. Then back again! (Just over 7 miles). Then its time to find a cream tea!! Well deserved."

"Barley Mow at Kirk Ireton worth a visit. Trad pub, no food, excellent beer especially the IPA, brought up from the cellar in jugs. Landlady in her 80's tends to give too much change so check and return. Lovely proper pub chat with friendly locals."
