"An excellent cottage - suited all our needs and a wonderful garden. Weather too hot the first week and then cold and wet the second week. We have mainly spent our time exploring the country side locally with some good walks. Can recommend the Bear for Sunday carvery if you are VERY hungry. A great holiday. Thank you."

"Excellent cottage. Comfortable and well equipped. Grandchildren loved the garden and all the cycling - they didn't want to go home after the Bank Holiday weekend. Thanks for everything."

"Beautiful. Amazing walks up hill and down dale. Dovedale up Thorpe Cloud and along the river to Milldale. Stunning views. Then back again! (Just over 7 miles). Then its time to find a cream tea!! Well deserved."

"Barley Mow at Kirk Ireton worth a visit. Trad pub, no food, excellent beer especially the IPA, brought up from the cellar in jugs. Landlady in her 80's tends to give too much change so check and return. Lovely proper pub chat with friendly locals."

"Mixed weather but lovely place to be on rainy days with TV, wifi and games. All other comments apply to us and we loved the free range eggs from the pub. Check out Brassington pub's essentials vending machine if you run out of anything and don't travel far!"

"We arrived at Sheepwash Cottage and we were all impressed with the location and quality of the interior. There is a large area were children can play safely. A short walk is a village pub (5min.). Carsington Water is about 30min walk away, were there are lots of walks and water sports. We hired bikes (£14) per day. There a few small shops and a nice cafe. A5star cottage and location."

"Stayed in Sheepwash cottage from 26th - 29th July 2016 with my husband, 2 sons (13 & 11) and my parents and we had a fantastic time! The cottage is gorgeous, comfortable, clean and well equipped. There is everything you need in there, especially in the kitchen. The beds were comfy and 3 bathrooms was more than enough! The one thing my boys mentioned was that the wifi wasn't quite as quick as they're used to, but we were always busy, so it wasn't really an issue. It would have been nice to have a hairdryer, but again, it wasn't really a problem. The gardens are gorgeous and very well kept! My boys couldn't believe the space! The cottage is a stones throw from the local pub, which is very handy, and the food was fine. Another pub, the Knockerdown, was 2 minutes away by car and we did prefer it there with regards the atmosphere and the food, plus there was a play area for the children. Carsington water is just up the road and we enjoyed our walk/ bike ride there. We also went into Ashbourne (10 minutes away). Kate, the owner, is lovely and she popped over to check everything was ok. Overall we had such a fabulous time and really enjoyed ourselves. We would definitely revisit and recommend."
