Derwent House is a really handsome Georgian house on the edge of the Starkholmes conservation area in the lovely old spa town of Matlock. The house has been carefully renovated to retain a host of original features but with beautifully furnished and decorated accommodation providing lots of space with its lounge, snug, dining room, dining kitchen, six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Many holidaymakers are happy just to laze about the house or wander around Knowleston Gardens or neighbouring Hall Leys Park. But what about a minute's stroll to Matlock Green for your morning paper, a short walk into town to the shops and Arc leisure centre, or just step out to the Red Lion or Duke William pubs for an evening drink. Matlock Green's fish and chips are pretty good as well!
Matlock is in the centre of Derbyshire's fantastic attractions ranging from Chatsworth House and Peak Rail's steam trains to Crich's tramway museum and the Heights of Abraham cable cars. At the end of your day have a lovely meal in one of the town's restaurants but save the wonderful Stones bistro for your last night's celebrations - you will need to book well in advance!
A spacious lounge with quality sofas, T.V., DVD, Wi-Fi, glowing log burning stove and views over the front garden and Knowleston Gardens beyond. A large dining room with oak dining suite. A snug with comfortable chairs adjoining the kitchen. A quarry tiled dining kitchen with range cooker with two ovens, microwave, large fridge and dishwasher. A utility room with automatic washer, tumble-dryer and freezer. On the first floor there is the master bedroom with king size double bed. A twin bedroom with en-suite shower room/W.C. Three off road dedicated parking spaces are available nearby together with other spaces on the quiet cul-de-sac outside. A small pet is allowed by arrangement £20.Smoking is not permitted. "5 star recommendation for this wonderful house in Matlock. It is perfectly located on a quiet road by a lovely park and is a short walk into town. The rental was spotlessly clean and the addition of fresh flowers and yummy biscuits on arrival was a lovely personal touch. I definitely recommend Derwent House!"

"This was the family's second visit to Derwent House, this was better than the first time only because of better weather, the house cannot be improved on. It is so well equipped, the kitchen is large with every appliance you could think of and includes everyday items missing from most rentals (tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a range of cooking items such as flour, oil etc). All six bedrooms are spacious as is the family bathroom. The range of DVDs, CDs, games and toys are available for indifferent weather. There were fresh flowers in the main rooms and the "dressing" of the house with pictures, busts etc adds to the interest in the aged property. Our family consists of Mum and Dad, three sons with partners and three grandchildren and we had plenty of room to play and socialise. Great place - we will return again."

"Fabulous Home and child friendly. We were visiting family in England and wanted a house that would fit 8 adults and 3 young children. We couldn't have been more pleased with this house. This house is well equipped and spacious. Great kitchen with large refrigerator and lots of cookware, washer and dryer, cupboards full of games, and beautiful bedrooms. Little patio was very pleasant with beautiful flowers. Stairways had stair gates which was great with our 2 one-year olds. Five of the six bedrooms had an en suite and all very up to date. The house has beautiful touches throughout. A bonus was the large park just a few feet from the house. The kids were well entertained. We did not use our car the entire time as anything we needed was in walking distance. Love, love, love this place and it is highly recommended."

"Great house in a great location. Owner had thoughtfully provided most of the bits and pieces you forget to bring:-). 11 of us visited and the house is well suited for this number of people. Good selection of walking routes around to cater for people with differing requirements. Matlock great for a lazy day browsing the shops etc.."

"Amazing second visit This very spacious house is ideal for a break in the Derbyshire Peak District. There were 12 of us and the house has everything you could possibly need and more. The kitchen is the best I have ever cooked in. There is every item you need. We cooked our Sunday lunch on the range style cooker and we all ate in the most beautifully decorated dining room. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and our en-suite room was no exception. The bed was very comfortable and the little extras a nice touch. We have booked to go back again next year and we can't wait. I strongly advise you to stay at this property you will not be disappointed I promise you. The fresh flowers placed all around the house are a lovely touch too."
