East Cottage, a charming cottage created out of a 17th century mellow stone barn, provides really comfortable and spacious accommodation. The amazing vaulted beamed lounge, glowing log burning stove, lovely decoration, beautiful drapes, quality furnishings, crisp linen and fluffy towels combine with every modern facility including a large flat screen TV, surround sound and Wi-fi. Add the sunny conservatory and extensive garden to make this a cottage to remember.
Set at the top of a private drive on the edge of open countryside it's also a very peaceful haven. Wander up into Matlock forest for lovely walks and views out over the Peak District hills. Stroll in the opposite direction and explore Lumsdale with its ruins of tiny industrial revolution mills, ponds and waterfalls cascading down the leafy dale.
Matlock with all its shops, delis, cafes, restaurants and pubs is down in the valley and there are visitor attractions galore in the surrounding hills. Fancy a ride on Matlock Bath's cable cars, Peak Rail's stream trains, Crich Tramway's trams, Middleton Top's bikes or the waves on Carsington Water? Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and other famous places are just as close! End the day with a drink in the Duke of Wellington just a five minute walk along the hillside.
A dramatic, beamed, spacious lounge and adjoining dining area. The lounge has comfortable leather settees, 50'' cinema system T.V., DVD, Freesat, Wi-Fi and log burning stove. The dining area has a quality oak table and chairs. A sunny conservatory looking out on the garden. A quality fitted kitchen with ceramic hob, double oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and automatic washer. A spacious double bedroom with king size bed and dressing area. A small single bedroom with pull out fourth bed. A super bathroom with bath/shower attachment, bidet and W.C. A separate W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of logs for the stove are included.(£15 p.w. charged extra Oct-Mar). A cot and high chair can be requested. There is a sunny conservatory and extensive garden with furniture adjoining open countryside. Ample parking is available . There is storage for bikes. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be possible. Please ask for details and a copy of the cottage access statement.
Weekly bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday but short breaks are available throughout the year excluding Xmas & New Year.
