Curlew Cottage is a super little cottage lovingly created out of a mellow stone barn. Indulge yourselves in somewhere just a little bit different! The cottage's quality interior sets it apart. Luxurious fittings highlight the owners' attention to detail. But it's the lovely setting in Windmill, a sleepy little hamlet under the dramatic Hucklow Edge, which really makes it special.
This is the world famous landscape of the Peak District National Park. Climb to the top of the Edge, have a pint in the Barrel Inn and gasp in wonder at the incredible views. Explore the local lanes and perhaps find the intriguing 'plague' village of Eyam.
In the very heart of the Peak District, with all Derbyshire's attractions like Chatsworth, Bakewell and Buxton nearby, there are few better places for your holiday. Wherever you go each day, get back in time for a super meal in the Queen Ann pub just five minutes walk to Gt. Hucklow before wandering back to the cottage, for the last glass of wine on the patio, gazing at the night sky brimming over with stars.
A spacious lounge with glowing log burning stove, beamed ceiling, super lighting, luxurious suite, dining table, flat screen T.V. , DVD., Freeview and Wi Fi. A lovely kitchen with quality fitted units, hob, oven, microwave, fridge and automatic washer. A super double bedroom with French cast iron bed and T.V. A beautifully fitted bathroom with French cast iron bath, separate shower and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Storage heating, power and an initial supply of fuel for the stove are included (£15 fuel charge Oct-Mar). There is a gravelled patio with furniture. Parking for one car is available on the patio and there are lots of other spaces on the very quiet lane immediately outside. A small pet is allowed by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.
Weekly bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday but short breaks are available throughout the year excluding Xmas & New Year.
Nearest pub - Gt. Hucklow 0.4 miles. Nearest village shop - Tideswell 2 miles. Nearest supermarket - Buxton 5 miles.
"Really well positioned to explore the Peak District. The owners are on hand if you need them but make sure you have privacy. The cottage itself is well decorated and has a real cosy feeling about it. Would give 5 stars but the shower and bed are a little small. Would definitely recommend anyway."

"this has been a lovely week from beginning to end. Six days of glorious sunshine, our third visit to Curlew cottage and still loads to do and see. There are no shops in Windmill but it provides something shops don't sell, a feeling of well-being, the fresh air, bird song and wild flowers cannot be bought. Curlew cottage is by far the best we have stayed in, thank you Abi and Russell for making us so welcome, see you soon,"

"Thank you Russell and Abi for a lovely week, we went for some lovely walks, up to the Barrel Inn at Bretton. We visited Castletown and the Dams at Derwent. The cottage is well situated for everything especially the Queen Ann pub at Great Hucklow, which takes only a few minutes to walk there. The cottage is well equipped and is really cosy and you can see a lot of work and love have been put into it. It is one of the best cottages we have stayed in and we have stayed in a few and we would like to come back again sometime. People we met on walks were really friendly. Thanks again for a wonderful week"
