"Fantastic cottage, just perfect for the two of us"

Written by Pike, 12th October 2019

"Comfortable, nicely decorated, well equipped cottage in an attractive village. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The washing machine and drying rack were very useful as this was our 3rd week of vacation and we were running low on essentials. The cottage is off the main street and so was peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed a drink out in the tiny backyard (table and chairs provided) as well as in the small colorful garden across the alley (table and chair also provided). The main room has a living area which was very comfortable and a small table with chairs for dining. Various DVDs provided entertainment in the evening and the walking books came in useful. The stairs up to the bedrooms are very steep and curve adding interest! The bedrooms are compact but the main bedroom had plenty of space for our clothes. (We didn't use the second bedroom.) Nice bathroom with shower although the cold water pressure in the basin is a bit low, the shower worked well with plenty of hot water. We ate at the Farmyard Inn - the homity pie was delicious. We were there during well dressing week - an added bonus. Highly recommend."

"A perfect location for exploring the Peak District. Wutley cottage is situated in the heart of Youlgreave close to the Farmyard Inn where my wife and I enjoyed some lovely food after walking and cycling in the Dales. The cottage is fully equipped and clean, and thanks to the very helpful owners was easy to locate and access."

"This was our second stay at Wutley Cottage and the standard was just as high as it was two years ago. The attention to detail and the effort to make guests feel welcome was just as we remember it. The cottage is decorated and appointed to a superb standard, is extremely clean, and has a warm and cosy atmosphere. Despite being small, it does not feel pokey. This is a great base from which to explore Bakewell, beautiful Bradford and Lathkill dales, Castleton and Mam Tor. We love to eat at the Farmyard Inn - the food is hearty and it has a great old country pub ambience. We also ate at the Bulls Head and enjoyed their steaks! We came away with more fond memories of one of our favourite destinations in England."

"Wutley cottage has been beautifully renovated and very comfortable. Excellent choice for a weeks break in the Derbyshire countryside. The cottage is small and my husband did have issues with the head height!!"

"After renovating our own property last year we loved seeing your renovation photos in the information folder. We have loved staying here in such comfortable surroundings. Perfect location , little Wilf did not want to leave ! We had a lovely walk in Bradford Dale along the river , enjoyed a day at Chatsworth House and Farmyard. Explored around Bakewell and tasted all the goodies at the Farmers market. Hired bikes and cycled from Parsley Hay to Tissington. We would highly recommend the Farmyard pub . We've already recommended your lovely cottage to friends and family ! Huge thanks to you both."

"Everything about this little house was perfect. It was beautifully renovated with high-quality materials and excellent taste. The furnishings were lovely and comfortable. It was immaculately clean. Every possible thing we could need (including a box of spare toothbrushes, shavers, etc., in case we'd forgotten to bring our own) was provided, along with a lovely bottle of wine and a tasty cake. I could go on and on about how much I loved this beautiful house. My husband and I were very sorry to leave it. The bedrooms were upstairs, and the characterful stairs (about eight if I remember correctly) were a little steep and of uneven heights. I mention these, not as a negative, but to indicate that the cottage would not be suitable for anyone who couldn't negotiate the stairs. For everyone else (1-3 people), I can't see how you'd fail to enjoy it."
