Reviews

Me and my friend had an amazing time away , so relaxing. Mary and George are the kindest hosts and made us feel comfortable sharing their space. We will definitely come again

Mr B,

Loved our stay, fishing was great and the use of the swimming pool. Great welcome basket. Mary and George very friendly. Nice and relaxing holiday we will be back.

Miss H,

Simply ideal for us.

Mr B,

This property is fantastic. Great location, great facilties, lovely hosts. We particularly enjoyed the use of the pool every evening and a daily walk around the private lakes. However, if you're after some peace and privacy, this property might not be the one for you as you regularly see and hear the owners from early in the morning. They are fantastic hosts and always wave and smile when they walk by but their presence is apparent even when you are in the pool.

Miss B,

Fantastic property, in beautiful lakeside setting with plenty of lakeside walks, great swimming pool and a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay, very friendly and helpful owners. Highly recommended !

Mr D,

Wonderfully equipped and very comfortable holiday property. We were greeted with a very generous welcome pack and all the information we hoped for. The location is rural and quiet but within easy reach of the Derbyshire Dales and very picturesque scenery. We particularly enjoyed the coarse fishing and use of swimming pool onsite. A splendid holiday.

Dr T,

Excellent property

Mrs P,

The owners are attentive and give you space too , the place they have created is quite marvellous and really needs to be seen to be believed. I understand the lakes are good for fishing but since i don't fish i could still enjoy a walk around them to take in the views. Will be looking to return next year

Mr N,

Superb 5 star accommodation and excellent hosts. This was our 2nd visit and we have already booked for later in the year.

Mrs T,

Wow what a great place for a holiday both inside and out. Two lovely lakes with excellent fishing. Thank you owners for a lovely week we will be back

Mrs G,

The owners were lovely and the Annexe is placed in a beautiful place! Would definitely recommend

Miss S,

This is a beautiful, quiet and spectacular setting perfect for a quiet getaway. Although not in the Peak District National Park it is within close proximity and does not take long to get to the places of interest. Ashbourne is close and a nice old market town to visit. The Annexe is very comfortable and well equipped. Having access to the swimming is a great bonus to the property. The jewel in the crown is the hosts, they make you feel very welcome and are are very friendly and helpful. This is a very special place to stay and unwind.

Mr K,

The property is absolutely fantastic, very difficult to put into words how nice it is. Great location with a top class interior fit out. Everything you need and more. Bed was the best I have ever slept on and the walk in shower was great. Swimming pool and facilities were way above our expectations and the fishing was great fun with plenty of choice. The owners are first class and they go over and above to make your stay memorable. Would certainly go back as I would love to experience the place in the summer. This place is one of those places you want to tell people about but also don’t want to as it’s a hidden gem which you want to keep for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Mr C,

Location

ASHBOURNE

Ashbourne is a lovely old Victorian market town at the southern end of the Peak District National Park. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Peaks’, it has lots of designer clothes shops, antique emporiums, restaurants and pubs gathered around the cobble market square and in the surrounding streets.

Close to famous Dove Dale with its stepping stones across the river, Thorpe Cloud with its magnificent views and the Lovers Leap, if you dare, there are few better places to go for a walk in the fantastic countryside. Another must visit is Paradise Walk by the side of the river Manifold from the picturesque village of Ilam.

You might also fancy walking or cycling from the centre of the town along the Tissington Trail up into the Peaks. Carsington Water with its wild water sports, birdwatching, cycle trail and visitor centre is also close by. And a short drive will soon get you to Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Chatsworth, and then into the heart of the National Park.

Local pubs – The Wheel Inn, The Ye Olde Vaults and The George and Dragon.
