Description

Boasting a stunning and thoughtful finish throughout, this charming property provides guests with a warm and inviting retreat whilst exploring the picturesque Derbyshire countryside. Built in the 1700s for the workers at the Strutt family's mills, this terraced cottage is located on a renowned cobbled street, with elegant dark green and cream paintwork to the majority of properties, in the heart of the award-winning market town of Belper. At the centre of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, it’s a town steeped in rich industrial heritage and creative culture. Meander through its cobbled streets to find independent boutiques, delicious eateries and historic sites aplenty. The North Mill and visitor centre makes for an educational day out, whilst the Belper River Gardens is a tranquil space amongst nature whatever the season, with rowing boats available for hire during the summer months. Situated just south of the Peak District National Park you can explore the nearby sights of Matlock (10mls) and Bakewell (18mls) with absolute ease.

This deceptively spacious cottage, renovated and furnished to an incredibly high standard, comprises:

Entrance Hall: with plenty of space to store coats, boots and shoes.

Lounge: stylishly furnished with sofa, two armchairs, ottoman, contemporary wood burning stove (first basket of logs provided) set into the original fireplace with its feature stone surround, Smart TV and DVD player, books and games.

Kitchen: well-fitted and equipped, with electric oven, gas hob, integrated dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine, microwave, air fryer, wine cooler, Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine and milk frother; two slim breakfast bar stools and a range of cookery books.

Dining Room: converted from a former outhouse extension into a smart contemporary space, furnished with bespoke fitted seating, hand-made dining table and chairs; the rear door leads out from here to the garden. There is also a dining mat for the dog!

A door in the corner of the kitchen hides the staircase to the first floor:

Bedroom 1: with quality king-size bed, fitted wardrobes and a window to the rear of the property.

Bedroom 2: with double bed and clothes storage.

Bedroom 3: with single bed and clothes storage.

Family Bathroom: with shower over the bath, WC and basin.

Outside: is a long enclosed garden in two sections: a large patio area with garden furniture and barbecue available, and a lawned garden with pear tree. A gate takes you onto a shared path, a shortcut through the cobbled streets to the centre of town.

Parking: on the street to the front of the property (subject to availability).

Reviews

Olives Place in Belper is a wonderful place to stay. A modern home on a historical street. The town has everything you could need within walking distance including a quirky cinema and river gardens. So many places to visit and beautiful countryside to walk or cycle all within an hour away. The hosts go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay, we absolutely loved it.

Mrs S,

This cottage is just lovely. Everything has been considered - the kitchen equipment is all high end. The decor is exceptional with lots of thoughtful touches throughout. Very comfortable beds, brilliant place to stay! The welcome pack, the owners communication and the location were excellent. The road is very very cobbly- much easier to park in daylight! We spent a lovely afternoon in the Devonshire- just a 5 minute walk away.

Miss J,

Outstanding property superbly presented. Very much looking forward to our next visit.

Mrs W,

Wonderful cottage everything you will need for your stay and more, excellent location for walks pubs and shops, host was very helpful and easy to contact if required we stayed on an exceptionally cold week and the cottage was lovely and warm we would highly recommend this holiday cottage and will be returning again in the future.

Mr C,

Lovely property. We stayed as 3 siblings and were very happy. Very clean and well appointed property which is easily walkable to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Belper. We would happily go back again.

Mr P,

Very stylish and comfortable accommodation. Weather was -3 but the cottage was warm and cosy. Everything was catered for and very thoughtfully prepared.

Miss B,

This cottage is worth a review, which I don’t usually. Exceptionally clean, much bigger inside than we thought. So many generous extras, too many to list. Never a problem with parking, although the cobble road is brutal! Quiet and dog proof garden, well placed, easy to walk into town. Lovely

Mrs S,

We booked Olive’s place as a base for housing hunting as we are relocating but it was so lovely it turned a stressful time into an enjoyable holiday - everything is thought about & the owners were super responsive & helpful.

Mr R,

This cottage is absolutely stunning! Spotlessly clean, decor gorgeous and so cosy. We had an amazing week xxx

Mrs S,

One of the best cottages we've ever stayed at. It is very well-equipped, super-comfortable and in a beautiful and quiet street. We will definitely be back at some point in the future!

Mrs W,

We stayed at Olive’s Place on a recent trip to Derbyshire and were delighted with the high quality of the accommodation. It’s a beautiful property, so attractively furnished and designed. Every room smelt great too! The garden is enclosed so perfect if you have a dog. Rob was always available if needed and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. It’s perfectly situated in Belper, only 5 minutes from the closest pub and town centre. There’s on-street parking and we never struggled to get a space. We’d love to stay again in the future - such a fantastic place!

Mrs J,

We had a lovely stay at Olive's place. There is a beautiful garden with fantastic views over the valley. The property itself is really very well kept and especially welcoming for anyone with Children and Dogs.

Mr D,

This cottage is so gorgeous, every detail has been considered - the artwork, the dog bowls, bbq and coal, such comfy bed! The owners are super helpful. Belper itself is really well situated and has good coffee shops. Very easy access to walks straight from the front door too.

Dr S,

Absolutely fabulous house! Perfect location for the town and river walks. Nothing has been done on the cheap in this house, the beds are super comfy, very well-equipped kitchen. Lovely patio and garden, ideal for the dog and sitting out on summer days, it’s very peaceful, just lots of birdsong. We never had an issue with parking, always got nearly right outside the house even on bank holiday weekends. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Mrs F,

Olive’s Place is simply wonderful. It was immaculate on arrival, and was a great place to stay with everything we needed for the week. We had a couple of minor queries which the owner was really quick to respond to, and the location - 5 mins from the centre of Belper - is a great base for exploring both locally and wider. We’d happily move in permanently, but since thats’s not an option, we’ll definitely be returning as guests :)

Mr D,

We had a fantastic few days at Olive's Place. Rob the owner was in touch ahead of our stay and was extremely helpful throughout. The property itself is very nice and very well equipped with everything you could need, and the extra touches the owners have added really made for a great stay. Lovely enclosed garden at the back great for the dog; Belper itself a short walk away with a good choice of places to eat and drink. Highly recommended - will definitely return !

Mr E,

Beautiful, unique location and wonderful cottage. Would happily stay again.

Mrs B,

An absolutely beautiful cottage. Everything is done with the guest in mind, from the great selection of cookware and matching crockery to the comfy bed linen and toiletries provided. Excellent kitchen and really thoughtful welcome “tray”. Great communication with the owner Rob. Top stay. Would highly recommend. Phil S
