Reviews

Very enjoyable week of peace and quiet.

Previous Customer,

Thank you for such a wonderful stay, we have enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing few days in this wonderful Bungalow.

Previous Customer,

We certainly enjoyed our stay, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise, has a well equipped kitchen ,very comfortable bed and the view from the lounge and bedroom windows was lovely, only problem was the lack of shops ie super markets been townies not used to it, having said that it was a lovely and quite restful place to stay. Went to some lovely places we enjoyed our visit to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth, all in all a very good week. Thanks for having us

Mr H,

I gave a 4 for equipment because the very posh kettle had metal parts of the handle which got very hot and it was too easy to scald oneself. Comfort also scored 4 because the stone floor was really cold on bare feet, and during cold days the cottage was not warm. We found the heating controls a bit hit and miss, I guess we should have made more use of the instruction pamphlets, didn't check there for the heating. It would have been helpful if heating instructions were made obvious.

Mr Donald T,

The pictures on the website didn’t showcase the properties beautiful features enough!! That is the only reason for my first score, it was a very homely place to stay with the comfiest bed in the world and very beautiful surroundings.

Miss Hannah R,

Everything is perfect but a DVD Player and suggestion visitors bring DVDs as TV reliant on WIFI and this is tricky in the area also we could only access programs on BBC I player - no other station and this was intermittent but the weather was very cold and frosty so that could be why. However lots of books to read :) One of the best-equipped and friendly cottages we have stayed at and such a lot to do in the area. The cottage is isolated but we love that in a place for peace - Highly recommended (amazing cupcakes and good wine for our welcome as well.

Mrs Margaret A,

Location

BRASSINGTON

Brassington is a very picturesque village with a muddle of cottages tumbling down the hillside nestled in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Close to the lovely Georgian market town of Ashbourne, as well as the historic lead mining town of Wirksworth, there are few better places to base your holiday. Best of all, the village has two great pubs. Ye Olde Gate Inn is a 17th century unspoilt village inn that has been named Britain’s cosiest pub. Alternatively, get a very warm welcome in the Miners Arms that does great food and fantastic beer.

If you enjoy the countryside, you might know that the Limestone Way that passes the village will take you out across the Peaks, while the nearby Tissington Trail is just great for walking or cycling. Set virtually on the shores of Carsington Water, Derbyshire’s inland sea, there is also easy access to wild water sports, birdwatching, cycle hire, an adventure playground, visitor centre, café and craft shops.

There is lots to explore in this southern part of the Peak District. Beautiful Dove Dale has its famous stepping stones across the river or there is Manifold Dale with its ‘vanishing’ waters. Tissington with its fine Jacobean Manor, Hartington with its great cheese shop or Crowdecote with its incredible views, are great local villages. You might even get as far as Alton Towers, just over in Staffordshire!

Local pubs – Ye Olde Gate Inn, the Miners Arms and the Knockerdown near Carsinton.
