The Old Weighbridge will really make you smile! It is an amazing little place providing quirky, railway themed accommodation but so much more as well. It's just a short walk into Bakewell, Derbyshire's most famous market town. It's got off street parking which is pretty rare. It's got secure storage for bikes and, to top it all, it's just a stone's throw from the Monsal Trail if you fancy peddling off across the Peaks.
If you wander down into Bakewell there are lots of country-style shops, supermarkets restaurants and pub galore. We always seem to end up sitting by the river with our fish and chips, sharing our 'Bakewell Pudding' with the ducks as they swim by, browsing around all the interesting individual shops and spotting the bistro menus ready for an evening meal.
With many of Derbyshire's holiday attractions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall so close to Bakewell you ought to plan a trip or two to the quieter parts of the Peak. Marvel at the well-dressings in villages like Tideswell, cycle over Monsal viaduct and drink in the view or wonder if you can really believe your eyes as you look out from Curbar Edge over wave after wave of Peak District hills.
An attractive one-room living/bedroom/kitchen area. The comfy sofa converts easily into a good sized double bed. There is a T.V, DVD, Freeview and Wi Fi. The galley kitchen has a two ring hob, microwave and small fridge. The little dining table and chairs are really neat. There is a sparkling little shower room with shower and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Under floor heating and power are included. There is a stone flagged patio with pots, plants and seating. Parking for one car is available next to the cottage. There is secure storage for bikes. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be possible. Please ask for details.
Weekly bookings are normally from Friday to Friday but short breaks are available throughout the year. Bookings for Christmas and New Year are from Sunday to Sunday.
Nearest pub - Bakewell. 0.5 miles. Nearest shops - Bakewell 0.75 miles. Nearest supermarket - Bakewell 0.75 miles.
"What a great find. We came to Bakewell as Julia's grandma was born here ( long since passed on ) to see the Christmas lights switched on, cancelled with no reason given. The Old Weighbridge is a hidden gem (as you will find ). A quirky dwelling with everything you could wish for. Spotlessly clean, very well kept. Bakewell has everything one needs for a short stay break."

"Magic stay in the "Tardis". Wonderfully fitted out and easy to use. Great place to use as a hub for all the local sights and walks. The Monsal Trail is a must. We visited several of the villages on the way, all with their own characters. We will definitely book to stay again when in the area."

"Superb place, Love it !! Everything you need, bread and milk provided lovely touch !! Comfortable and great location for walks and access to Bakewell. When we sat outside so many people commented on how beautiful and quirky The Old Weighbridge is. We both loved it. If you could make it better add a mirror in the living area and a little lamp, both would be useful additions. Love it, can't wait to come back. Thank you for the wonderful job you have done in creating a beautiful quirky hidaway."

"Absolutely love it here ! Great location for the shops. Lovely little place with everything you need, nice that milk and bread were provided. My only quip is that a mirror on the wall would have been handy as my hair dryer wouldn't stretch to the bathroom, otherwise it was perfect. Would love to visit again !"

"What a fabulous place to spend a short break in ! Really well fitted out with everything needed and more ! The railway theme is fun and quirky and everything is spotlessly clean and well ordered. The local walks are fab and there is no need to use a car as Bakewell is just a short walk away. Also the buses are frequent and well served. We have had the best time and would love to return ! Thanks again."
