Description

Situated in a pretty cobbled street, Bobbin Cottage is presented to a very high standard, whilst still retaining its original charm and character. It features a comfortable lounge, modern dining kitchen, three lovely bedrooms and a wonderful bathroom. Set in the heart of Belper, in Long Row, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Conservation Area, where you can re-live the life of a millworker while revelling in the luxury of the cottage.

Bobbin Cottage is a short walk from Belper's vibrant centre with its independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants that helped the town win a Great British High Street Award. Some of our favourites include Nonno's Italian and the River Garden Chinese restaurants. George's fish and chips are award winning and you can't beat a glass of wine while watching a film at the Ritz Cinema!

Belper is one of the gateways to the Peak District. Drive up the valley and you are soon at Matlock Bath, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and then on to the tops of the of the Peaks. Carsington Water and the National Tramway Museum are in the surrounding hills and you might even venture to Alton Towers. Ashbourne with its Victorian market square, local shops and antique stores is another nearby town worth a visit. So is Wirksworth with its heritage trail, attractive church green and Ecclesbourne Valley heritage railway.

Reviews

Really lovely cottage with everything we needed in a beautiful part of the country near to all facilities and to the countryside. The owners were extremely helpful when we got locked out one night. Everything in the cottage was spotless and we appreciated the wine and biscuits.

Mrs S,

We've had a lovely week and hope to come back someday. Cottage was well-equipped and was beautifully cool even during a heatwave. Thank you for a great place to stay.

Past Customer,

We have had a wonderful time relaxing in this beautiful cottage. The space is cosy and spacious. Our son especially loved having a big boy bed all to himself! Thank you for being so accommodating!

Past Customer,

Lovely comfortable cottage. Long Row is a lovely reminder of the Industrial Revolution - if only the walls of Bobbin Cottage could speak! Carsington Reservoir is a lovely day out for a walk and followed by a meal at the MIner's Arms. Some nice walks around the valley.

Past Customer,

This was our first visit to Derbyshire and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. Bobbin Cottage was the perfect place for us to come back to every evening, comfortable and cosy. We very much appreciate the effort the owner has gone to in decorating the cottage, just lovely. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Location

BELPER

Belper is a lovely market town that has won market town awards because it is a place that really lives. There is a very attractive high street with lots of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, a great fish and chip shop and even The Ritz little cinema. But there are also supermarkets on the edge of town to provide for all your normal needs.

However, Belper’s real claim to fame is that it is in the UNESCO Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor, reflecting its Industrial Revolution links, which are evident throughout the town. There is the historic North Mill, lots of historic cottages and cobbled roads, the interesting heritage centre, beautiful Riverside Gardens and even the railway that appears from a tunnel under the town.

Take a day or two exploring all this heritage but remember that there are lots of other attractions nearby, ranging from Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall to Crich’s Tramway Museum, the Midland Railway Centre and Carsington Water. Save some time to go high up into the Peak District with its picturesque valleys, sparkling rivers, spooky caverns, wild moorlands and even the Derwent Valley Dams of ‘Dambusters’ fame where they tested the bouncing bomb.

Local pubs – The Nags Head, the King William 1V and the Blue Bell at Farnah Green.
